International Events in Germany
June and October 2012 |
| |
Two training courses on VIPP will be held in St. Ulrich near Freiburg, Germany in the second half of 2012.
The first course -- VIPP TOF -- will run from 4 to 8 June 4 2012 and is customized for facilitators and trainers who want to learn VIPP facilitation and practice and improve their presentation, visualisation and facilitation skills. We planned this workshop because we have received several requests from development workers for such training.
The second course is a VIPP Training of Trainers and Global Action Workshop from 8 to 12 of October 2012. This course will introduce experienced trainers and facilitators to approaches for developing their own training projects. It will provide them opportunities to try out new methods and tools, and to discuss ideas with fellow facilitators and trainers. We will also explore during this workshop suggestions for setting up the Global Secretariat of VIPP during the proposed VIPP Summit of facilitators and trainers. The October workshop will also serve as a forum for discussing the aims of democratising development, contributing to self-determination of local communities, and supporting safe spaces for people to voice their concerns. This course will serve as a VIPP Pre-Summit encounter for the VIPP Community to consider ways of supporting the involvement of civil society in development and policy making. It will be hosted by Maruja Salas, Neill McKee and Timmi Tillmann as members of the VIPP Core Group.
The announcement for the June TOF in St. Ulrich may be downloaded here.
Deadline for registration is April 15, 2012.
Email the VIPP Core Group if you are interested in attending the the Advanced Level TOT and Global Action Workshop in October 2012. |

Visualisation in Participatory Programmes: How to Facilitate and Visualise Participatory Group Processes
This manual has been written for the trained facilitator of group events. It is designed to reinforce concepts and techniques learned in training of facilitators and trainers in participatory group processes. VIPP is not wedded to a particular framework or academic discipline in problem solving, planning or training. Rather it is a set of tools that can be applied to just about any group process as long as the intention is to make such processes more participatory
and democratic.
This is a manual for facilitators and trainers involved in:
| • |
Planning and revising projects and programmes |
| • |
Communication materials development and story-line planning |
| • |
Putting research into action |
| • |
Community-level development work, including PRA/PLA |
| • |
Training workshops |
| • |
Training of facilitators and trainers |
| • |
Curricula development |
| • |
Running conferences and information markets |
| • |
Management, human-resource planning and team building |
| • |
Business meetings |

An invitation to all facilitators of group processes
The publishers of this website invite users to send in their experiences in applying VIPP. Best would be short descriptions of about 400 to 500 words with two or three good quality, digital photos which we can have the rights to use. Send captions and photo credits needed. It would help a great deal if both positive and negative experiences are included in your contributions.
You are also invited to discuss issues related to participatory VIPP processes at our Community of Practice, see below: |
